Former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga has this evening called for a press conference which will take place tomorrow at parliament to announce his next move after the party he heads in Buganda decided to remove from the parliamentary commission by hook or crook.

At the instigation of the online #UgandaParliamentExhibition, documents shared online revealed Mpuuga with other three parliamentary commissioners partitioned and scrambled for a whooping Shs1.7bn and the now embattled Mpuuga took the lion’s share with Shs500m as a service award.

This never went well with his party president and leadership who convened a meeting in which Mpuuga admitted to this cash back bonanza. The party asked him to apologize and step down from his position as Commissioner of Parliament. Known for taking no prisoner, Mpuuga declined to step down casting another shadow of confusion in the party.

The party’s National Delegate’s Conference on orders of their president Robert Kyagulanyi convened a meeting chaired by Dr Lina Zedriga at Makerere-Kavule which Mpuuga snubbed and gave him Seven days to put in writing why the party shouldn’t recall him from his juicy and lucrative commissioner job.

Zedriga hit the last nail in Mpuuga’s fate when a week later indicated that the party’s NEC again sat and resolved in unison to recall Mpuuga from the parliamentary commission. The NEC also resolved to replace Mpuuga with Zaake at the commission despite later being booted by parliament two years ago.

Now Mpuuga who has remained defiant and tight-lipped about the resolutions made by the party against him is set to address the media tomorrow at parliament to announce his next move.

This publication anticipates two things, Mpuuga might resign from the parliamentary commission to avoid a long battle with the party or He might also decide to cling in there since the party has no numerical strength in parliament to remove him as parliamentary commissioner.

Keep it here, we shall bring all events as they unfold.
