The ministry of foreign affairs has today opened up on the plight of Ugandans living in Turkiye where a strong earth quake caused to death in three countries of Syria, Lebanon and Turkiye with so far over 22,000 confirmed dead.
Foreign affairs ministry has also clarified that majority of Ugandans live in the cities of Ankara, Istanbul, Konya, Izmir, and Antalya which were not affected by the earthquake.

As responders continue to dig through the rubble to save those who are still trapped or those who’ve already die, Ministry of Foreign affairs says only 3 Ugandans were effected in this disaster and one of them who sustained injuries is responding well.
“According to the information availed, three (03) Ugandans in Diyarbakr, Tiirkiye were affected. One (01) of them sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Malatic City and he is responding well.” reads part of the statement
Contrary to the rumor that has been making rounds on social media that Turkey based social media blogger Fred Lumbuye had died in the disaster, but the Ministry has dispelled such and confirmed that he’s alive and kicking.
“In addition, the Ministry wishes to further clarify that there are *no* reported deaths of any Ugandans and the information circulating on various social media platforms relating to the death of Mr. Fred Lumbuye as a result of this earthquake is not true.’- the statement further reads.
