The news of president museveni signing the controversial homosexual bill into law has been received with hope as parliament and speaker show excitement. Legislators stood a test of time to pass the bill and send it to Museveni twice until he signed it into law.

In her statement regarding the signing of the bill into law, Speaker Anita among has thanked the president for braving the intimidations and sanctions by the western donors and signed the bill into law.

Anita among also thanked her colleagues in parliament and Ugandans for the prayers and encouragement that pushed the bill to success because they’ve answered the prayers of Ugandans in protecting the family.

“we have answered the cries of our people. We have legislated to protect the sanctity of family as per Article 31 of the Constitution of Uganda. We have stood strong to defend our culture and aspirations of our people as per our objectives 19 & 24 of national objectives and directive principles of state policy”-reads Anita’s statement

Just like the previous one which had been signed into law but only to be challenged in court and quashed by the Justice Steven Kavuma led bench, activists and lawyers like Andrew Mwenda, Fox Odoi among others will move to court to challenge it.

However, speaker Anita Among has called on police and other bodies to enforce the law and arrest all gay, transgender and lesbians wherever they’re in Uganda since what they’re doing is now criminal.

“I now encourage the duty bearers under the law to execute the mandate bestowed upon them in the Anti-Homosexuality act. The people of Uganda have spoken, and it is your duty to now enforce the law in a fair, steadfast and firm manner.”-sas Anita Among in statement.

We believe police will start taking action to arrest homosexuals and this makes Uganda an unsafe place for them to live in and majority will either seek asylum in the western world or ditch the practice and forget about scissoring and bum-shafting.
