In the news this afternoon, the pressure group belonging to Museveni’s son and presidential advisor on special operations Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba the MK Movement has rebranded to Patriotic League of Uganda.

They have not only changed the name but also changed their logo from using Muhoozi’s  photo to a lion but maintained the color of Yellow like that of NRM where they draw most of their supporters.

Announcing the changes, Igara East MP Michael Mawanda who sits on Muhoozi’s Central Committee revealed that they have transitioned from a pressure group which wants to have Muhoozi replace his father as president into a civic Organization.

“We hereby constitute ourselves into a civic organization and assume and adopt a new name and identity, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), which is the main aim of working towards receiving Ugandans, in a spirit of God citizenship national pride, national service, protection of persons, combating corruption and wastage of public services and protection of the environment”-Mawanda revealed.

However, unlike Bobi Wine’s People Power pressure group which transitioned into a political party after engaging Mzee Moses Kibalama, MK Movement has not transitioned into a political party directly but into a civic organization which might rebrand into a political party as the election season nears.

Through MK Movement, Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been staging political rallies greeting people as his crusaders continue drumming up political support for him despite being a serving army officer who is barred from engaging in active political activities.

The event was attended by Key Museveni ministers Minister Godfrey Kabyanga, Frank Tumwebaze and NRM’s Vice Chairperson Eastern Capt Mike Mukula and members of parliament and the Muhoozi fanatics.
