Uganda’s president, Chief of Defense forces, Fountain of Honor and Chairman of the ruling party Yoweri Museveni is set to storm Hoima today to campaign for NRM’s candidate Busingye Mugyenyi in the Hoima Woman MP by-election which will be held on Thursday 26 this week.
According to insiders in the NRM party, the president will address rallies in Kigoroya County, Hoima Booma grounds and Mbarara in Kitoa sub-county at the same time when the People power boss has already camped in Hoima to drum up support for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and People power Nyakato Asinansi who is the joint opposition in this race.
The last time the two locked horns was last year in Arua during a highly contested by-election of Arua municipality which fell vacant after Ibrahim Abiriga was gunned down. Chaos germinated on the last day of the campaigns leading to an alleged smashing of a president’s car and gun fire that costed Bobi wine his friend and driver Yasin Kawuma and later Bobi wine arrested with 33 years and are currently battling treason charges.
The Hoima Woman MP seat fell vacant after Hon. Tophace Kaahwa Byagira (NRM) chose to represent the people of the newly created district of Kikuue that was carved off from Hoima as of July 2018.
