On 1st May 2023, Ultimate News authored a story of former very powerful Museveni RDC’s convened in Kampala and reminded the president that since dropping them from the lucrative presidential representative jobs in March 2022, they’re grassing and have no where to start from.

These were following up on an earlier meeting they had with Museveni after seeking audience with him, they organized themselves and on 08th July 2022 they met him, Museveni thanked them for serving their country very well and also urged them to support the current and newly appointed RDCs to ease service delivery

“I met some of the former Resident District Commissioners (RDC) at State House at Entebbe. I thanked them for their service and tasked them to support the current RDCs in delivering service to our people and the nation”-Museveni tweeted after meeting them.

The group came out smiling ear to ear after the president reportedly promised that they will not home empty handed some ka money will be sent to their accounts to manage their affairs and move on with life.

Well, some were re-deployed while some got cash amounting to Shs360m and a few others were gifted land. These contend only a few despite the presidential directive that all former RDCs be given this package of cash, the rest continue lamenting and crying out for help from the president to bail them out.

Struggling with the current economy and affairs, they have convened again today in Kampala to re-activate their cry to the president to bail them out either with new appoints or some cash for them to manage the situation since they are jobless.

Notable among these is former Jinja RDC Eric Sakwa who was very powerful but fell from grace to grace when he was accused of murder during the Covid-19 curfew days, arrested and detained at Kirinya prisons. He was acquitted years later but the Permanent Secretary in the Presidency terminated his contract, he ran to court to overturn it and all efforts were unsuccessful.

Eric Sakwa a professional Teacher with a Master’s Degree was poached from UPC and was one of the vocal politicians in Mbale but he says he’s struggling with life in Uganda and calls upon the president to give him a second chance to serve his country or get him with his other colleagues some package to handle life after being RDC.

These have come out at a time when their party NRM is this week going to update it’s register countrywide and for starters who didn’t know, an RDC is a powerful person in a district, they head the District Security Committees and even issue orders to DPCs, and when it comes to elections, their orders from above are implemented without fear or favor but with flavor.
