Breaking News: Speaker Oulanyah Is Dead, Museveni Confirms

Sad news making on our desk indicate that the speaker Jacob Oulanyah has passed on this morning according to president Museveni.

The Speaker of Oulanyah has been battling undisclosed illnesses which he has been battling since last year and the situation worsened when he was airlifted aboad a Uganda airlines Airlines to Seattle in the US.

Oulanyah has been the sitting member of parliament for Omollo county in Omollo district and was deputy speaker under Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga for 10 years before beating her in an election of parliament last year.

“20th March, 2022 Countrymen and Countrywomen. It is with a lot of sadness that I announce the death of the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, the Speaker of Parliament. I got information of this sad news at 10.30am, East African time from People that have been with him and the doctor that was caring for him in the intensive care unit. He was a good Cadre. I delayed the announcement so that his children would be informed first. May His soul rest in eternal peace.
