In the headlines this evening, State Minister for finance in charge of planning, Amos Lugoloobi’s his men spend much of their Tuesday deroofing their master’s fam house in Misana village, Misanga Parish, Bbale sub county in Kayunga district.
Lugoloobi is one of the truth-telling government officials who have admitted to inappropriately receiving iron sheets the Museveni government, through the Office of the prime minister procured for the poor people of Karamoja. The iron sheets are said to have been procured from a supplementary of Shs39bn which parliament approved for the semi-arid Karamoja sub region.
A report in the state-owned New Vision indicated that Lugoloobi received a total of 600 iron sheets some of which was used to roof the farm shed to shelter his goats in cows.
The soft spoken minister says the goats were given to him by State house through a poverty alleviation program headed by Joan Kakwenzire. That he requested the Office of The Prime minister to support him with 600 iron sheets ostensibly to support community social projects in his Ntenjeru constituency in Kayunga district.
Lugoloobi who is a new entrant in Museveni’s cabinet has been MP for three terms and will be be seeking re-election in 2026, says the Mabaati scandal he and other key government officials are involved in is indicative of the fact that no man is perfect.

He has since been interrogated by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit whose operatives over the weekend traveled to Kayunga and were appalled seeing his private goats, cattle shelter roofed with iron sheets labeled “Owned by OPM,”. They took photos of the same to corroborated their ongoing criminal investigations.
To the surprise of the community, Lugoloobi’s workers on Tuesday morning descended on the goats/cattle shed and curiously removed all the iron sheets branded with the OPM label and replaced them with new ones.
Curious residents perceifed this as amounting to interfering with the ongoing investigations by the State House Anti- Corruption unity, police and other agencies of the state.
Besides this soft spoken Lugoloobi whose seat now hangs in balance in Ntenjeru and his name appearing on Museveni’s cabinet in the looming reshuffles, th other beneficiaries of the iron sheets include Vice president Jesca Alupo, Premier Robbinah Nabbanja, Speaker Anita Among, Minister Goreti Kitutu, Minister Agnes Nanduutu, Minister Rebecca Kadaga, Minister Joyce Moriku Kaducu, Minister Rukia Nakaddama, Defence Minister (state Jacob Oboth Oboth, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, Lands Minister Judith Nabakooba among others
While speaking at parliament today, just like Minister Matia Kasaija, Speaker Anita Among said she never requested for the iron sheets but some one allocated them to her at the Office of the prime Minister and she gave them away to government schools in her Bukedea District.
However, the other Ministers Bwino Kyakulaga (state Minister for Agriculture) and 2nd Deputy prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga clarified that they indeed requested for the iron sheets to cater for schools and health centres devastated by storms.
