Kamugisha is currently in police cells, however the owner of the company has switched off his known contacts upon hearing the arrest of one of his workers.

According to RDC Hashaka the shoddy works on the building was discovered on Tuesday, a day the district was supposed to have received the block.

“Checking the paint on the wall alone is disaster, even the mixture of cement was bad,”he noted

The no nonsense RDC further says they are looking for the owner of the contracted company who has never stepped at the site ever since he won the contract noting that the block was constructed with the funding from World Bank under Response to Displacement Impacts project (DRDIP).

“These are the type of companies we want to be blacklisted. We have formed a nonsense team known as Kisanja hakuna Muchezo and its comprises DISO,CID,RDC and DPC to handle people who are messing up with government projects meant to support the community”- Hashaka revealed.

Speaking to this website , some of the residents who were excited about the arrest of the engineers described it as the first of it’s kind in Obongi district.

Paul Andama one of the residents says Obongi district is one of the districts where shoddy work is the order of the day.

“We are happy that the office of the new RDC has started arresting these type of contractors and i think others will now learn a lesson”- says Andama

Tom Oyet the manager of the company that won the bid to do the construction of the building in question says he doesn’t understand why his work mate was arrested before demanding the definition of shoddy work.

“I have the certificate of completion of work, where were the district officials all that time to say the work was poor and they waited today during the hand over of the structure,”-a visibly angry Oyet asked.
