Behind Busoga United’s First Jinja Derby Win Against Bul Fc

Isaac Isinde Man Of The Match

By Abbey Kalikwani Hillary

It was a rare occasion at the FUFA technical centre in Njeru as Busoga United former Kirinya -Jinja SS thumped Bul fc 3-0 in a highly contested Jinja derby.

Our sports analyst Kalikwani Hilary gives you a detailed analysis of the general performance of Busoga United in their first Jinja derby win that saw them earn bragging rights in the third position of the Uganda premier league table.

Busoga united won the first Jinja derby of the season with a comfortable 3 – 0 victory over Bul FC. Boban Zirintuusa, Joel Madondo and Lawrence Tezikya were on target as the students recorded their first derby League victory in seven games.

Boban converted from the spot in the 72nd minute, Joel Madondo doubled the students lead in the 83rd minute with his trademark long range short before Lawrence Tezikya sealed all three points in the 93rd minute. Here is my player rattings.

GK. ALI KIMERA – 7
Organised and commanded his bacline very well. Made a couple of simple saves for his first clean sheet of the season though received a silly caution for his time wasting antics.

RB. DOUGLASS MUGANGA – 8
Put in some thumping challenges and relished the physical contest with his hard tackles.

LB. ISMA KAWAWULO – 7
Was on top of his game, never gave Otim a sniff and offered width where possible.

CB. KAKEETO SHAFIC – 8
Calm as u like, great composure, used the ball well at the back and made vital tackles to shackle a frustrated Bul front line.

CB. ISAAC ISINDE – 9.5 MOTM
Experience is the best teacher indeed. Was a towering presence thru out, led by example and dealt with everything brought forward.

CM. KASONKO GEORGE – 8
The skipper was his usual combative self in the center of the park. Made timely interceptions and easly turned defence into attack.

CM. MANDELA NELSON – 7.5
His work rate was second to none, his legs were just about everywhere and he drove the team forward.

CAM. BOBAN ZIRINTUUSA – 9
Saw plenty of the ball, dictated play, calmly converted from the spot. Wat a perfectly timed and weighed pass for Tezikya!

RAM. MUSA MAGUMBA – 6
A quiet evening for the winger who latter swapped wings with Wani but failed to get the better of either Denis Okot or Richard Matovu. Was latter withdrawn for Tezikya.

LAM. WANI IVAN – 8
Had a slow start but grew into the game especially after the break, beat Richard Matovu for pace before being brought down by Walter Ochora for the penalty.
Okot failed to clear his cross from the right flank which resulted into Madondoz second.

ST. JOEL MADONDO – 9
Got thru plenty of work with his electric pace and Terrific trickery, worked tirelessly to pull the BUL backline out of Joint and scored a screamer.

SUB. LAWRENCE TEZIKYA – 8
stepped things up with an injection of some clever runs and strong hold up play. Scored his first senior goal in a familiar atmosphere.

SUB. HAKIM MAGOMBE – NA
SUB. ISMA MUGULUSI – NA

COACH. ABBEY BOGERE KIKOMEKO – 10
Great team selection and tactically spot on.
