Reports coming in from the quadripartite high level meeting at the Gatuna boarder point indicate that Uganda and Rwanda have agreed to end the boarder impasse that has lasted for the past one year within 15 days after Uganda completes investigation, into Rwanda’s claims. These investigations are to be completed within the next one month.
The meeting which was attended by presidents Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Joao Lourenco of Angola, Kaguta Museveni of Uganda and Felix Tshikedi of the Dr Congo rised expectations of opening the busy boarder point of Gatuna.
The boarder closure by Rwanda according to the ministry of Trade and Commerce in Uganda has affected Uganda’s flow of goods to Kigali and lost billions in trade, it has also costed lives of Rwandans and Ugandans who have been shot by the Rwanda army accusing them of smuggling.
Earlier in the day, the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency announced that Uganda has withdrawn the passport of Rwanda’s dissident Charlotte Mukankusi that was issued to her by Ugandan’s authorities.
