As the country heads to the controversial 2021 general elections and the momentum gaining each other that passes because of the selective enforcement of the Covid-19 and EC guidelines, the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu has paused made a big announcement this evening.

Muntu has this evening announced that he will pause his campaign activities in protest of the arrest of National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who was picked from Luuka district and the FDC’s presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuria who has also been picked this evening in Gulu.

Through his social media handles, Muntu said they will pause their campaigns until their colleagues are released urged government to acknowledge that this is not business as usual.

Several presidential candidates like Norbert Mao and General Tumukunde have continuously condemned the police brutality and the selective enforcement of the EC guidelines that has caused tension and uncertainty of whether Justice Byabakama and the entire commission are in charge of the elections process or left it Uganda police and other security agencies.

By the time we filed this story, Kyagulanyi Sentamu was still detained at Nalufenya torture chambers while Patrick Oboi Amuriat is also under police detention. Government and the electoral commission defied calls to postpone the polls but seems the Covid-19 adherence seem to be impossible.
