At the instigation of exclusive information that president Museveni bankrolled Patrick Oboi Amuriat’s presidential campaigns in 2021, the once strong and admirable Forum for Democratic Change faced a bitter split last year.
The split left Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Nandala Mafabi and Jack Sabiiti in Najjanankumbi and another faction led by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Ssemuju Nganda, Mubarak Munyagwa, Chairman Waswa Birigwa and Salaam Musumba alongside a big number of MPs sought refugee at Besigye’s Katonga road office where they do their politics from.

It’s however evidently clear that the factions are far from reconciliation. FDC Katonga faction launched country wide consultative meetings. They started from Kireka which was the first meeting in Kampala, Jinja, Mbarara, Rukungiri, Kasese and more are still taking place.
From all these consultative meetings and rallies, members have unanimously urged the FDC Katonga faction to form a new political party ahead of the 2026 general election. These contend that Amuriat, Nandala and Sabiiti should remain with the deflated FDC at Katonga as members prepare for a mass exodus to the new political bus that Besigye and his colleagues are formulating.
Speaking to a local TV in Kampala, Jack Sabiiti who is the current FDC Chairman of Najjanankumbi faction has revealed that they’re set to commence a probe on Besigye to explain where he’s getting all the cash he’s using to make such huge rallies wherever he’s heading to. These are suspicious that Museveni must be bank rolling Besigye.

This comes at a time when Najjanankumbi through Amuriat are threatening to sue Besigye for continuing to use the party’s symbols and other gears without authorization.

Dr. Besigye is not like M7, is not PLU, is not like your old FDC who transport and facilities supporters, Dr Besigyes supporters do the opposite actually the supporters facilitate themselves and dr’s movements.
