The Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023 which was passed by parliament last years passed another test of time today when the Constitutional Court declined to nullify it as it had been requested by Andrew Mwenda and 10 others who petitioned the court to trash it.

Mwenda and 10 other petitioners who gunned the same law down in 2014 petitioned the Constitutional court on 29 May 2023 and they’re prayers in the petition were that court nullifies the Anti-Homosexuality Act in it’s entirety. These are bitter with the same court 10 years later today which failed to grant their prayers.

They say, they’re heading to another court to have their prayers granted and have the bill struck down since they content that same sex intercourse between two people of consenting age shouldn’t be criminal.

According to Mwenda, he’s shocked that court upheld several sections of law which he things are irrelevant. Mwenda and his colleagues are confident that their prayers will be granted by the Supreme court.

“I have full confidence that the judges of the supreme court will stand above our cultural bigotry, they will stand above our prejudices and protect the rights of homosexuals to live their lives as they wish”-says Andrew Mwenda while speaking to Media shortly after the ruling.

The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Communications boss Mwenda further says he’s surprised that the law stipulates that defending homosexuality is criminal yet homosexuals need their rights defended and upheld.

“I don’t need to be a lawyer to say, the current law says that if you defend homosexuality, i have committed a crime. I am a journalist, so right now under the law i have committed a crime to say homosexuals should be given their rights”-says Mwenda.

  1. Homosexuality has no place in Uganda.Even in the bible it is written that Gomorrah and Sodom were destroyed, actually annihilated by the Almighty God because of homosexuality! Furthermore, Our motto is “For God and my Country”. Therefore our beloved president saw it and signed the bill into law.Long live Mr.President, the true son of Uganda and Africa.

  2. Andrew Mwenda wants to bring God’s judgement upon Uganda by his silly argument of homosexuals rights. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God because of homosexuality. If God wanted men to have sex with men, He would have not created Adam Eve. And if it was not so, would Mwenda be born, why does he want to defy God. Any way, no one stand against the Lord and goes free. Watch the space.
