News reaching our desk this morning indicate that the Governor Bank of Uganda Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebire has died this morning at the age of 72 years.
News of his death were first shared by Journalist Andrew Mwenda on his social media pages. According to Mwenda the economist rested at 5:30am this morning.
Mutebire has been battling yet to be known illnesses from Nairobi’s Aga Khan Hospital where he was admitted late last year.
He has been serving as Governor bank of Uganda since 1st January 2001 but was set to retire this year in June on his families request due to health reasons.
