In the news this evening, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has appointed the new Deputy Police boss (Deputy Inspector General of Police) to help IGP Ochola to run the police force.
The news has been confirmed by the Deputy Press Secretary to the president Faruk Kirunda indicating that the president has appointed Maj Gen Godfrey Katsigazi Tumusiime to replace Maj Paul Lokech who succumbed to a blood clot in September last year at the age of 55.
Maj Gen Godfrey Katsigazi Tumusiime has been the Deputy Commander of the UPDF air force since January 2022.
Since Museveni fired former Police boss Kale Kayihura and replaced his then Deputy Okoth Ochola, he has always appointed men from the military to deputize Ochola. He first appointed Brigadier Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi in March 2018 and replaced him with Maj Gen Paul Lokech in December 2020 following the November violent Chaos preceding to the 2021 General Elections that left over 50 dead, 100s injured and several arrested.
Now to fill the same position that was left vacant following the death of Maj Gen Paul Lokech, Museveni has replaced him with a man from the military Maj Gen Godfrey Katsigazi Tumusiime.
H.E @KagutaMuseveni has appointed Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Kasigazi as Dep. IGP of @PoliceUg. The President has also renewed the contract of the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija. Best wishes to the appointees. FK
