Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Burundi all contribute troops to Somalia under ATMIS but are set to completely withdraw from the country by the end of 2024. already 5000 soldiers have been withdrawn from the country and an additional 4000 soldiers will also set to withdraw in June this year under the ongoing implementation of the Somali Transition Plan (STP)

UPDF has been in Somalia in the fierce battle against the Al-Shabaab since 2007 under the African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and now under the African Transition Mission In Somalia (ATMIS).
