For the  better party of the last month, National Unity Platform has been embroiled in confusion with the former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga who is accused of pocketing Shs500m given to him by parliament as a service award which the party says was wrong cash.

Mpuuga says he has no case to answer because even those accusing him don’t even sight any section of the law he has abused by accepting cash given to him by parliament.

The party convened a National Executive Committee meeting twice which resolved that Mpuuga be recalled from his position as Commissioner of Parliament and also be replaced with Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Zaake who was booted from the same position two years ago.

Speaking at parliament during a press conference he convened, Nyendo-Mukungwe legislator and Commissioner of parliament Mathias Mpuuga has re-affirmed his stand of not stepping down as commissioner of parliament. Mpuuga said he has no plans of leaving the party because NUP is his party which he was part in it’s formation.

“I’m here to state that I’m a founder of NUP. I did not join NUP, I was a part of the founding blocks of NUP where I serve as a Deputy President in charge of Buganda. I’m here to reaffirm I’m not leaving NUP”-said Mpuuga

Mpuuga says in the coming weeks, he will be engaging himself in efforts to reclaim the party from dictatorship to put in place avenues for conflict resolution among other pressing issues in the party. He vows to re-instate discipline in the party and all indiscipline party members will face it rough under his guidance.

A visibly tough Mpuuga who says has not met his party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu says he pities his party boss when trying to convince the public that him [Mpuuga] is a known sinner but the public is yet to accept Bobi Wine’s claims.

“I have not had a meeting with my party leader [ Bobi Wine]. I have only been hearing him speak [about our meeting] at funerals, the media, among others, trying to convince the country to believe that I’m a terrible human being but the country has refused to believe that. I would want to meet him,”-Said Mpuuga
