President Museveni last week announced a reshuffle in his cabinet where he made a handful of changes but maintaining his old guard he appointed in July 2021. He maintained all his ministers save for a few.
He moved MP Jacob Oboth Oboth from being the junior minister for Defense and Veteran affairs to now Cabinet Minister for the same docket after axing Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja. The president filled the vacancy left behind by Oboth Oboth with Sarah Mateke.
As Sarah Mateke moved to the Defense and Veterans docket as a junior minister, she left the junior Minister for Children and Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Gender vacant and the president filled this events promoter and MK Crusader Balaam Barugahara.

Museveni also dropped Harriet Ntabazi as the junior minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. He replaced her with now former Chief of Defense Forces Wilson Mbasu Mbadi.
The president moved Peter Lokeris from the Energy Ministry to now Cabinet Minister for Karamoja affairs. He replaced Lokeris with Youth MP Phiona Nyamutoro.
Owing to the Mabaati Scandal which caused panic in his cabinet last year, the president dropped Dr Mary Goreti Kitutu, Agnes Nandutu and Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny. He replaced Nandutu with Women MP for Sironko District Florence Namboozo Wamala and also replaced Kwiyucwiny with his Principal Private Secretary Dr Kenneth Omona as the new minister for Northern Uganda.
Museveni also appointed Kitgum Women Member of Parliament Lilian Aber as State Minister for Relief, Preparedness and Refugees.
The president however consoled his dropped Minister Bamulangaki Ssempijja, Harriet Ntabazi, Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny with Senior Presidential Advisory roles. These who sit at Kingdom Kampala join other dropped ministers in the last reshuffle Ameria Kyambadde, Irene Muloni and the recently appointed Senior Presidential advisor on Hygiene and Environment Prof Gilbert Bukenya.
In the army, Museveni replaced Mbadi with his son Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba. He also dropped Deputy CDC Lt Gen Peter Elwelu, appointed him Senior Presidential Advisor and replaced him with Lt Samuel Okiding.
Parliament’s appointment committee headed by Speaker Anita Among has today morning vetted the newly appointed ministers at parliament.
