“The Auditor General recommended the recovery of Shs53Bn from 10,192 ‘ghost workers’ who had been Gov’t payroll, but during the verification exercise in February 2023, these were found to have died, retired or absconded from duty”-indicated the AG

Whatever you think is impossible, is actually possible in Uganda, dead people receiving salaries on their accounts sounds too crazy but true. This maybe could become history after the Auditor General’s Office did a countrywide audit of the salary payroll across government.

Franked by the new leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi and the Clerk to parliament Adolf Mwesigye, Speaker Anita Among received the reports and will send them to the Committees Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Committee of Parliament on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises for investigations.
