Yesterday evening commandos and police raided former commissioner of parliament Francis Zaake loaded with guns for a special operation.
According to reports, Zaake who is currently out of the country reportedly for a medical leave had paid a deaf ear on calls to return the government vehicle in his hands which he has been given as commissioner of parliament.
Upon ceasing to be a commissioner following a tense process in parliament early last year, Zaake ran to court seeking to overturn the parliamentary decision of dropping him from the house’s top organ.

However, his relationship with the speaker has been sour since then and at one moment during his wedding with his long time lover later last year, Zaake threw away an envelope of cash which speaker Anita among has sent him for his wedding.
Known for taking no prisoner on what he thinks is right, Zaake last year caused commotion on the floor of parliament when the Deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa tried stopping him from talking about the drones which arrest Ugandans.
This didn’t go well with the man from Mitooma who later adjourned prenary shortly but would later send Zaake to the parliamentary committee of privileges headed by Bugweri country legislator Abdul Katuntu which kicked off investigations into the matter and Zaake is already a no show.
Following media reports on an operation at Zaake’s home last evening, parliament has this morning opened on what transpired. According to Chris Obore the house’s director of communications, the operation was sanctioned by the clerk to parliament to retrieve motor vehicle reg number UG 0333H belonging to the parliamentary commission.
Obore further says that the operation stemmed from Zaake’s refusal to return the vehicle peacefully by following guidelines governing management of government fleet and return the car but he declined.
“The action was prompted by Hon. Zaake’s refusal to return Government property that by policy is supposed to be driven by an official driver”- reads part of the statement
Despite being away from his home, the commandos of the parliamentary police were able to retrieve the motor vehicle which was in the hands of legislator Zaake and it’s currently parked in the parliamentary parking.
