During their press briefing last week on Tuesday, the Joint force of change an umbrella that bring together several political parties and factions announced plans in which they intended to spread the gospel of ending Museveni’s four decade rule.

The group which comprised of Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), FDC’s Katonga faction led by Besigye and Lukwago, DP’s faction led by Dr Lulume Bayiga, Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform, the UPC faction led by Lawyer Peter Walubiri and Dr Olala Otunnu among others all announced in unison that their grand plan will shake the tables in Museveni’s establishment.

According to their grand plan, they were to start with protests in Kampala against bad roads with planting of banana suckers and fishing on the city potholed roads, this was to be followed with joint opposition prayers in Iganga at Iganga Municipal Council primary school on Monday 22nd January and the joint prayers would proceed to Lira City on Tuesday 23 January but all this hasn’t happened.

Just like police and army foiled last week’s protests by caging Lukwago, Bobi Wine and Besigye in their homes with heavy deployments, the same happened yesterday as security forces pitched camp at the school where the prayers were supposed to take place. However, the deployment came when the opposition had postponed the prayers due to a meeting with the Inter-religious council and also the continued besieging of homes of other opposition bosses.

There was heavy deployment in Iganga however didn’t stop several opposition activists led by NUP’s new recruit Andrew Kaluya from expressing their concern over Museveni’s iron handed politics.

Speaking to Media, NUP’s Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya expressed optimism that once things are normal as earlier planned, the protests and joint prayers will take place when their other opposition chiefs like Lukwago and Besigye are released from their house detention. Bobi Wine continues placing cat and house games with police ever since he escaped from his home in Magere on Friday last week.
