Much as some activists have petitioned the Constitutional court to quash the newly signed Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023, the US government is still unsettled over the law which they say is barbaric.
Not US alone, several western powers have threatened to withdraw support they offer to the Ugandan government due to the Anti-gay law. The Arch Bishop of Canterbury has since condemned the Anglican Church of Uganda and urged them to stop supporting the law claiming it’s totally unchristian.

In a strong worded statement in regard to the newly signed Anti-Gay law, US President joe Biden warned of several consequences should the Ugandan government maintain the law and fail to block it’s implementation.
Biden threatened to withdraw trade and Business with Uganda, withdraw support rendered to Key Museveni government sectors like Education, Defense, Health, Agriculture, governance among others as Museveni insisted he will not bow to the pressure.
President Museveni however, would later reveal when speaking to the NRM members of parliament who had retreated to Kyankwanzi that a few sections of the law he signed needed to be looked into especially those that demand companies to identify homosexuals among their employees, another section is the one that puts landlords of brothels used for homosexual activities.
Museveni would later reveal that he signed the bill into law on the advise of the Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka but did not read the whole bill before signing. He also revealed that a certain lady from the World Bank called him and explained her concerns on a few sections of the law.
The US this week issued travel advisories to it’s citizens and other travelers across the world claiming Uganda is not a safe place to visit due to the Anti-gay law which they refer to as a bad law.
Now the government of the United States through the Secretary of State has revealed that several Museveni leaders, MPs and Ministers face travel ban to the US over the Anti-Homosexuality Law.
US Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller revealed that the US in response to human rights abuses and corruption in Uganda, the Department of State announces that it is taking steps to impose visa restrictions under Section 212 (a) (3) (C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of Ugandan individuals believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining the democratic process in Uganda.
