MOROTO: A cloud of panic has gripped several district officials especially the veterinary officials and companies that supplied goat’s in Karamoja following the planned visit by the parliamentary Committee on presidential affairs investigating the theft of iron sheets and goats meant to Karamoja.
According to the program the committee members will be in Karamoja from Sunday this week to carry out thorough investigation on whether iron sheets, food and goats were delivered to the people of Karamoja.

The visit by the Mps on the committee was confirmed to this news website by Hon Achia Remigio the member of Parliament for Pian County in Nabilatuk district.
Remigio who doubles as chairperson Karamoja parliamentary group and also the lead petitioner calling for censure and arrest of Karamoja Minister Mary Garet Kitutu says the committee wants to find the truth on the ground.
“What the committee has been getting is just paper work accountability now they need to see the real thing and properly interacting with the beneficiaries’- he said while speaking to this publication.
This website has however learnt that the visit of the committee has caused panic among the district veterinary officials in the districts of Karamoja who were the key people to receive and inspect the delivery of goats to be distributed to the beneficiaries.
Ultimate News has also learnt that some of the companies that distributed goats in Karamoja belong to some resident district commissioners who are also quaking should the committee learn to about the same, they are likely to loose jobs over conflicts of interest.
John Moding one of the residents says they know the d RDCs whose companies participated in distribution of goats, a project which has come out to be a scandal.
Parliamentary Committee on presidential affairs is currently investing the massive theft of Karamoja relief items by the Minister for Karamoja affairs Dr. Mary Goreti Kitutu and her Deputy Agnes Nadudtu whom the intelligence team also recovered ironsheets in her house.
It should be recalled that last month, state house anti corruption unit raided the home of Minister Kitutu and recovered bundles of Karamoja iron sheets meant for the reformed Karamoja cattle rustlers.
Her mother, brother and nephew were arrested but released after the minister Kitutu pleaded to the police over the age of her mother. Now the investigations was expanded into the distribution of goats and relief food which they found also in a mess.
Some areas in Karamoja like in Kaabong Town Council where the council was expecting to receive 2,160 goats received nothing yet the company hired by the Office of the prime minister was fully paid.
There other people in Kaabong who were deceived by one of the companies by names Abemeri to supply local goats to the company but to their shock the company vanished with their money after distributing goats it sourced from the residents.
In other sub counties like Kathile in Kaabong district people were supplied goats but later the goats were withdrawn by the same companies and gave the beneficiaries Shs50,000each under unclear reasons.
In Kalapata sub county in Kaabong, beneficiaries were made to sign forms and paid Shs50,000 without goats.
