As gender minister, Betty Amongi is one person for whom money is not a problem. She controls many big things like NSSF, GROW Project, the YLP and all these are clear cash cows for the government and the people of Uganda. She is the political leader who supervises all these and there is no way Amongi can be broke.
In line with her being a rich person, Amongi is also generous when it comes to supporting and funding people she considers to be her political allies. She doesn’t discriminate based on political affiliation when it comes to making political allies and friends.
Big political players in Lango are already counting on her for campaign logistics and these include Amolatar woman MP Agnes Apea whose reelection budget will require not less than 200m.
Another one is Paul Omara the Otuke county MP in Lango who Amongi two weeks ago facilitated to meet Museveni and market himself before the president in Entebbe state house.
Omara, who has been battling loan problems with housing finance bank over his failed Ngetta factory, was so excited to be in state house and started explaining his CV to the president while showing how he is well traveled with many international connections which he can use to polish the image of Museveni and NRM.
Omara is convinced that he can become the next minister of finance in Museveni’s government for as long as he has support of Betty Amongi.
Each time he receives her phone calls, Hon Paul Omara spends the whole day smiling from ear to ear like a teenager who has just fallen in love.
Otuke east MP Achon Bua Julius is another NRM MP who greatly admires Betty Amongi who he believes has a bottomless wallet capable of solving every politician’s needs in Lango sub region.
Joy Ongom of the Kole woman MP race is also counting on Betty Amongi to be able to overcome NRM big girl Judith Alyek who is the incumbent.
Ambassador Joy Ruth Aceng who was expelled from Canada after she became bad-mannered, is also broke and is counting on Betty Amongi’s financial support to get back the Kole woman MP seat on the UPC ticket.
Even nationally, outside Lango, there are many broke politicians who are targeting to beg from Amongi who they are convinced is very rich and swimming in billions of cash.
