Speaker Anita Among is in the news again, not for another big cash for Corporate Social Responsibility but for mocking a fellow member of parliament on the floor of parliament.
While trying to remind the speaker that she had promised that when parliament resumes after Easter, there would be a debate on the corruption at parliament, Lwemiyaga County legislator Theodre Ssekikubo met all the machinery of Speaker Anita Among ready to strike in her defense.

Anita Among openly told off Ssekikubo that she leaves home to come to parliament to handle serious business not jokes and matters of social media. She was too quick to forget that she made parliament sit for longer hours to discuss and ultimately censure Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Zaake from the parliamentary commission in 2022 over matters got from Social Media.
In defense of the speaker that the should not discuss corruption in parliament, Kazo legislator Dan Kimosho accused Ssekikubo of all having issues related to land grabbing which have even led to loss of lives which he is involved in and questioned if the same should be discussed by parliament.
Not relenting on this, Ssekikubo got the microphone again to ask speaker to have Kimosho’s allegations expunged from the Hansard because they were allegations which taint his reputation.
Anita Among in a video that’s making rounds on social media told Ssekikubo to speak whatever nonsense he wants to speak. This has left people wondering how the speaker runs the house like her own home and belittling fellow MPs without remorse. Ssekikubo’s pleas to the speaker that what he wants to say has sense, she continued throwing jibes at him.

This was the second time Speaker Among is strangling any debate on corruption and misuse of tax payer’s money in parliament. The first attempt by Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi and this very MP Theodre Ssekikubo were met with comments like the “I can talk about matters of social media cooked by homosexuals”.
She would later accuse the homosexuals behind the accountability questions dangling on her head while in Bukedea. She also accused a former speaker to be behind her woes and in Buyende she referred to Kadaga as an old woman fighting her.
