Last week, president Museveni made few changes in his cabinet where he brought in new faces who were vetted on Monday by parliament, sworn in Yesterday Wednesday and today they took over office.
For starters, State Minister for trade Harriet Ntabazi, Cabinet Minister for Defense Vince Bamulangaki Ssempijja, Karamoja Ministers Mary Gorret Kitutu and Agnes Nandutu as well as Junior Minister for Disaster, Preparedness and Refugees Grace Freedom Kwicuqwiny were all shown the exit door from cabinet.

Ssempijja whom the people of Kalungu dropped from parliament, Harriet Ntabazi and Grace Freedom Kwiyuqwiny were lucky that the president consoled their axing with being appointed Senior Presidential advisors but Nandutu and Kitutu were just told to go home without any consolation.
Much as we may not know why Museveni dropped the other three ministers, at least the reasons are very obvious why Kitutu and Nandutu were sent home. These championed the grand Mabaati scandal of last year where Iron sheets meant for the Karachunas in Karamoja were diverted to their own use.
Kitutu was arrested a time like this last year with her brother Micheal Naboya and the two spent last year’s Easter celebrations behind the cold gates of Luzira prisons while Nanduutu was days later sent to Luzira prisons and was only granted bail weeks later in the second week of May.
Mary Goreti Kitutu who still facing graft charges in court was replaced with Peter Lokeris while Nanduutu who is also equally facing the same graft charges was replaced with Sironko women member of parliament Florence Namboozo Wamala.
A visibly troubled Kitutu handed over office to the new minister of Karamoja affairs Peter Lokeris at the Office of the prime Minister this evening in an office event that was witnessed by prime minister Robinah Nabbanja Musafiri.
Dr Mary Goreti Kitutu who is also the Woman Member of Parliament for Manafa District had served in Museveni’s cabinet before being appointed in the Karamoja affairs docket in 2021. She initially served State Minister for Environment between 10th June to December 2019 and was later appointed Cabinet Minister of Energy and Mineral Development between 14th December to 8th June to 2021.
