During their Tuesday press conference held at Besigye’s Katonga road office in Kampala, the United forces of Change announced planned protests on Kampala streets to expose the poor state of roads in Uganda’s Capital.
These planned to plant tree stems, banana stems and suckers, potato and even bring fish into into the potholes on Kampala roads. The bigger plan was to show delegates in the country for the Non Aligned Movement summit in Kampala that the country’s infrastructure is in a sorry state.

Government through the Rubaga Division RCC Habert Anderson Burora and police warned that the planned protests are illegal and will not take place. Despite the threats from government and police, Bobi Wine and Besigye continued rallying their supporters to storm the streets and carry out the activities as planned.
Now to put the words into actions, police and army have surrounded off homes of several opposition politicians in the city to block them from accessing the city to cause chaos and mayhem. Besigye, Lukwago and Bobi Wine’s homes have been sealed off as their where abouts remain unknown.
Taking to his social media handles, Besigye posted that his home has been barricaded by the ‘cowards’.
“Barricaded at home by the COWARDS! No turning back; we deserve better. Please do what you can, wherever you’re, with whatever you have, to show the terrible roads affecting you today”-Besigye posted.
To ignite the warm up to the running battles with police and army, Besigye yesterday planted Banana suckers in the road leading to the city from Kayunga in Kasangati town council as travelers cheered him to plant more.

The cowardly military & police have surrounded our home and put us under house arrest, but the protest is on. Fix our roads! Free Political Prisoners! Free Uganda!

The calls for protests come at a time when Uganda is hosting two high level summits today in Kampala. One is the Non Aligned Movement Summit taking place at the Munyonyo Convention Centre and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) summit which is meeting today in Kampala to discuss the war in Sudan. The IGAD summit is going o be chaired by Kenya’s president Dr William Ruto.
