The candle has burned out, the bold voice of Dokolo and Lango has gone silent, family and friends continue mourning the lioness of Dokolo Cecilia Ogwal who rested today at the age of 77 years from an Indian hospital, She succumbed to cancer.
As messages of condolence continue pouring for the fallen veteran, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has mourned and sympathized with the family of Cecilia Ogwal.

Cecilia Ogwal subscribed to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) which she joined after loosing her MP big for Lira Municipality to Jimmy Akena in 2006. And in 2011, she came contested in the newly created Dokolo district on the FDC ticket and since then she has never lost again.
She however, severally rubbed shoulders with NRM members and even sometimes attended meetings with Museveni at state house as an elder on the Council Of elders with the likes of former speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, former Chief Justice Bart Katureebe Magunda, Alhaji Moses Kigongo, former Premier Ruhakana Rugunda and former vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.
Ogwal would point out government’s excesses and would also point out where the opposition lacked. Her stand for the common good of Ugandans was never a compromise.
In a brief message of condolence posted on their X former twitter handle, NRM posted “For countless years to come, the profound legacy you leave behind will continue to inspire generations of this great Nation.”
The Forum for Democratic Change also posted ” It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of Imat Cecilia Atim Ogwal, our woman MP for Dokolo District. Her unwavering dedication to public service, political prowess, and leadership leave an indelible mark. Our deepest condolences to her family and the people of Dokolo. The FDC Party is working closely with the family to arrange a fitting farewell. Details for the burial will be communicated soon” May her soul rest in peace.
