Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine who is the principal of the National Unity Platform has revealed his party and other opposition outfits are calling for mass uprisings against the president Museveni’s almost 4 decade rule even before he seeks re-election in the 2026 general elections.
Speaking to FRANCE24 Television Channel, Bobi Wine revealed that ahead of the 2026 general election, president Museveni is no different from the previous and current one and is hellbent on extending his grip to power to 45 years.
“While there’s an election in 2026, we strongly believe that is intending to do the same what he did in 2016 and 2021 therefore, we are mobilizing the people of Uganda to affirm their authority to raise up non violently and unarmed because it is provided for in our constitution to throw out Gen Museveni”-Bobi Wine said
Bobi Wine further says, they are calling for civil disobedience and a revolution to eventually end Museveni’s rule which he has enjoyed peacefully since 1986 after a five year guerilla war which he staged against the then Obote Regime.
Asked if the revolution fails to oust Museveni before 2026 what will happen next, Bobi Wine revealed that they will use all constitutional means to challenge Museveni including contesting against him in the forth coming elections which he strongly believe the opposition will take with a landslide win but also use the elections as a spark to the mass revolution.
“We are calling for an uprising has not happened in 2026 we have made it clear that we are going to every moral and every constitutional method to procure change and yes if we go into an election, it will be as a means and spark of the revolution that we so badly want”-Bobi Wine told France 24.
