BUKWO: The seats of various elected leaders in Bukwo district right from Members of parliament, district chairperson, councilors, sub county chairpersons and councilors might be replaced by new faces come 2016 following the decision that the voters there have resolved to vote them out.
The locals have blamed their elected leaders for keeping quiet as the armed Pokot pastoralists from West County in Kenya terrorize families in Bukwo.
On Friday night a sub county councilor Kaptererwa sub county was shot dead by armed Pokot raiders who crossed from west Pokot county in Kenya. The raiders took off with 20 heads of cattle before shoting dead the councilor who had come out to make an alarm.
Mr.Edwin Yeko the district councilor for Bukwo said the general security situation in Bukwo district was alarming. He said many animals have been stolen, people killed something he said it was affecting the livelihood of people in Bukwo.
“These armed raiders have now made it a habit to cross and raid animals at their liberty in Bukwo,”he said.
Joy Chelangat another resident assured the current elected leaders that they are ready to vote them out and vote in people who will help them to address their problems.
“Imagine within one week, a total of 200 heads of cattle have been raided from Kaptererwo sub county and the security has not recovered any single animals said.
Several attempts to get a comment from Ms Everline Chemutai current member of parliament for Bukwo district was futile as her known phone was switched off.
