The general public in Amudat district in Karamoja sub region is not happy by the poor and delays in the completion of the Development Initiative of Northern Uganda (DINU)  roadworks in the district.

Amudat district in 2019 contracted Cuberoot limited to rehabilitate two community roads at a tune of Shs1.9billion but the work has since failed to be completed even after the district paying two installments to the constructor.

The roads visited by this website Lopedot – Nakipom 6.909km; Ungeresa – Achorichor 9.332km have poorly fixed Culverts with no water offshoots.

This publication together with the  resident district commissioner Amudat Rtd Maj Betty Akello Otekat and DISO Amudat visited one of the critical bridges that connect people of Nakipom and Amudat still uncompleted.

John Kiprop a resident of Nakipom says the people of Nakipom have missed out on critical services such as health and education since bridge that connects them to where the facilities are built are not worked on.

“Even when its dry like of now, you can’t cross it because it’s so deep and it’s  worse during rainy season”-Kiprop told this publication.

Rtd Maj Betty Akello Otekat says Cubroot company is one the companies that has given headache to everyone in the district.

“They feel themselves, they don’t want to be supervised, they are never at the site yet this work was supposed to be completed last year”-RDC Otekat notes

Moses Ngati Moya the contractor of Cuberoot limited could not pickup our repeated calls.

While Emmanuel Oyuku the Chief administrative officer Amudat says Cubroot has failed to finish the work adding that he was writing a letter to the ministry of local government for the action to be taken against the contractor.

“He has failed to deliver even after many extensions of his date of finishing the work but still he has failed,” he said.

This website  has learnt that many DINU projects which are funded by European Union  in the region have not registered good success as of the previous other EU funded projects such as Northern Uganda Rehabilitation program (NUREP) and Karamoja Livelihood project (KALIP) and now DINU.
