Manafwa women legislator and minister for Karamoja affairs who is facing charges of corruption and abuse of office has finally been granted bail after spending 10 days behind the cold gates of Luzira prison.
Kitutu’s first attempt to secure bail flopped on Wednesday this week on grounds that her sureties were not substantial to stand in for her. Among her sureties who failed the test of the Anti-Corruption court include her husband George Kitutu who failed prove financial capacity.

The troubled Minister this time round presented fellow Minister Giddudu Mafabi to stand surety for her and indeed the Chief Magistrate Joan Aciro granted her a cash bail of Shs10 million and her brother Micheal Naboya bailed at Shs3million. While her sureties each bonded at Shs200million.
The fate of the other ministers involved in the ‘mabaati’ scandal lies at the hands of the Director of Public prosecutions who says is still studying files of other suspects and they will appear soon in court.
The president has through the prime minister Robinah Nabbanja ordered whoever was involved to return the iron sheets they took or pay cash equivalent to the ‘mabaati’.
