The country is in shock following the death of seasoned economist Keith Muhakanizi who died at the age 64 years from Milan, Italy where he had gone to seek medication.
Muhakanizi who at the time of his death was the Permanent Secretary for Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) succumbed to cancer which he had been battling for years.
Before coming to OPM, Muhakanizi served as the PS Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and also secretary to treasury where he served for quite a number of years.

He dies at a time when the Office of the Prime Minister is drowned in an iron sheets scandal that is involving many Museveni ministers including speaker Anita Among, one of them Dr Mary Goret Kitutu is behind bars at Luzira prisons.
Many people have described Muhakanizi as a technocrat behind many key policies that restored and breathed life in Uganda’s economy which has boosted development and revenue collection.
