KATAKWI: Joy of hope on Tuesday covered the faces of over 578 farmers from Katakwi after receiving short term maturing seeds from their own for planting as the rains bring the long awaited season.

The farmers who had pondered where to start from after all the food including the stored sends were eaten up due to the prevailing hunger situation in North eastern Uganda finally found the answers of their fate.
The seeds were procured by Dan Mulalu the presidential private secretary on mobilization and distributed them to farmers across all the sub counties of Ngariam County under his foundation dubbed Kazinikazi.

Grace Atengorit, one of the farmers in Ngariam could not hold her excitement saying she was lacking money for buying seeds for planting adding that what she had spared for planting season was eaten due to hunger.
“Am so happy to our son and a brother Dan Mulalu for his loving heart using his personal money to procure seeds for people, these are kind of leaders we would want to represent us when the chance is available”-Atengorit says
Another farmer Petet Omoding described the distribution of seeds to farmers by Dan Mulalu as timely looking at the return of rains in the region.
“We have started receiving rains and most people had nothing to plant now this short maturing cow peas will enable most farmers to start planting”-Omoding also says
Dan Mulalu on his side says his interest is to fight hunger from the households by supporting farmers plant short maturing crops.
“The people of Katawi are not used to beg food, but the current hunger situation has forced some of them to beg food which i can’t allow seeing it going on”-Mulalu is quoted saying.
He promised to distribute more seedlings including maize, cassava cutting, soybeans in the coming weeks.
This website has learnt that Dan Mulalu becomes the first person to support farmers with seeds as most farmers across Teso region are stuck watching at rains going due to lack of seeds.
