The fallen army Gen Elly Tumwine has not been a soft spoken one and would speak out his mind whenever he wishes without fear or favor.
Last year Tumwine shocked every one while has handing over the security ministerial office to Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi who succeeded him at the docket last year when Museveni unveiled his cabinet for the new term after the 2021 general elections.
Tumwine was dropped as Security Minister and also dropped as Army representative in parliament a position he had occupied since 1986 but Museveni appointed him as his advisor on security.
“I will remain a freedom fighter and admire him and thank him as my teacher, my mentor, leader and my hero. I will continue to give him my support and advice and the best advice i can give him is to prepare for a smooth transition so that we ensure stability and long term peace for the long future”- said a visibly disappointed Tumwiine.
His advice to his mentor Museveni to retire and go home peacefully did not go well with the NRM honchos who said telling the president to retire was not the best advice he could give Museveni also Tibuhaburwa.
