Buganda Kingdom has this afternoon reacted to a video that has been making rounds on social media when the Chief Justice Alphonse Owiny Dollo was sending a tribal message to Buganda over Jacob Oulanyah’s death and sickness while admitted in the US.
While expressing his disappointment in the Buganda Kingdom officials and key leaders who never said a word as some Ugandans in the US protested at a hospital where Oulanyah was admitted saying he should be brought and be treated in Ugandan hospitals. This prompted several legislators from Acholi to demand for an apology from NUP since the protesters were putting on red berets.
However in the video, Chief Justice Dollo hit at Buganda kingdom over double standards and not reigning on it’s Baganda’s who wished a man who was fighting for his life death. His statement has caused uproar with many supporting his outbursts and others castigating him because the statement was never expected of him being a Chief Justice.
“But your ethnic leader you you who were protesting, your ethnic leader was transported in a presidential jet to German using public funds he was not entitled to, you did not demonstrate. Is it because Oulanyah is an Acholi, or because he doesn’t speak your language. Only a wicked person can fight who is trying to fight for his life”- said CJ Owiny Dollo
His statement has however caught the attention of many Buganda Kingdom apologists who said the Chief Justice should be furnished with facts about the Kabaka’s trip to German, he was never transported by a presidential jet as he claims but headed to German last year in August aboard a KLM airline.
The Katikiro while mourning the fallen Speaker in a statement this afternoon called on the learned Chief justice to get facts right while sighting reference to Jacob Oulanyah’s maiden speech as speaker in May last year where he urged fellow legislators to put their faith in facts and sharpening arguments rather than raising their voices.
“Just for the record, however, when the Kabaka flew to Germany in August 2021, he did not fly by the presidential jet, but by KLM airlines.”- reads part of the statement released by Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga.
