FUFA Announces New Uganda Cranes Head Coach.

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), the governing body of local football, has today officially announced and unveilled Johnny McKinstry as the new Uganda Cranes Head Coach at FUFA House, Mengo.

The 34-year-old Northern Irish emerged as the best for the the top position after beating other 137 applicants how made interest in the same job between the period of July 27 to August 17

Upon his unveiling, McKinstry cited his top ambition as leading the Cranes to its first world cup qualification, adding that he’s angry for success.

McKinstry has been the head coach of Bangladesh side Saif Sporting Club and though the name might sound rare to many of Ugandans, McKinstry, just like Desabre, has good experience of African football.

He has formerly managed Sierra Leone and Rwanda. In 2015 when he was with the Rwanda national team, McKinstry was named CECAFA Challenge Cup Coach of the Tournament as he led his side to the final.

Since the departure of Desabre after the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt, Police FC tactician Abdallah Mubiru has been the interim coach of the Cranes with Onduparaka’s Livingstone Mbabazi as his assistant.
