President Yoweri Museveni

For the over  three decades that president Museveni has had his grip on the powerful seat of the land, there has never been a serious talk about his academic credentials like the one currently on-going sparked three weeks ago.

This all started when city lawyer Male Mabirizi reached out to Electoral Commission seeking to access the academic credentials of presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu whom he accuses of having irregularities in his papers and age. After sucessfully meeting all the requirements, the maverick lawyer was given access and would later expose Bobi wine’s academic credentials to the public and media.

The city lawyer later wrote to Uganda National Examinations Board for clarity on how Bobi wine studied ‘A’ for just one year and a half which the examinations body clarified. Mabilizi felt not convinced even with Bobi wine’s presser that clarified his age and academic credentials. He ran to court and sued the presidential hopeful over dishonesty in his age and has since vowed to block Bobi wine from appearing on the ballot ahead of the 2021 elections.

As it was expected several lawyers have come out also demanding to have access to the academic credentials of the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni who also doubles as the Minister of Education and sports. Another Lawyer who subscribes to Bobi wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) also used the same process and wrote to the Electoral commission and have access to President Museveni’s academic credentials.

However, the EC hasn’t used the same speed and spirit they used in releasing Bobi wine’s credentials to lawyer Mabirizi and it’s now three weeks they are still silent on releasing Mueveni’s credentials to Lawyer Muwada Nkunyingi which has since sparked questions whether they really exist or not.

In a bid to bring doubts to settle, Makerere University don Mwambutsya Ndebesa through his social media account has come out to clear air on the truth about Museveni’s academic credentials at Dar-el-Salaam University which he asserts is where the country’s long serving president graduated from.

“There has been some social media trending to the extent that Museveni is a high school drop out. Let me say here that although we were not contemporaries at Dar I found his legacy there and can assure you that he is a graduate of the University of East Africa ( Dar es Salaam Constituent college)”- Wrote Mwambutsya Ndebesa.
