President Museveni has unleashed his trusted general Proscovia Nalweyiso to go out and investigate land injustices in Kayunga district. Museveni revealed this last week in state house when Moses Karangwa was being vetted to contest for the position of NRM chairman central region.
Museveni told fellow CEC members that he had been getting reports accusing Karangwa of land grabbing mostly from area woman MP Aidah Nantaba. The president added that apart from Nantaba he had also recently been approached directly by a group of land grabbing victims implicating the same Karangwa.
The president directly complained to Karangwa and said he had directed his trusted general Proscovia Nalweyiso to be the one to investigate land grabbing in Kayunga with special focus on Karangwa, since all the government agencies had refused to intervene to help poor people.
Nalweyiso is supposed to make a report to the president who will then determine how to intervene in the situation. Museveni can’t ignore this because land grabbing is the biggest reason for his unpopularity in Buganda.
Museveni informed Karangwa and CEC members present that Nalweyiso will be organizing meetings for Karangwa to face his accusers directly and then defend himself.
The involvement of Nalweyiso has given new hope to Kayunga residents who had given up after the office of RDC and area police had failed to intervene because they feared that Karangwa may use his money to fight them and influence their firing or their transfer to remote places in the upcountry parts of Uganda.
