The First Son who is also the CDF of Uganda, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is worried that intrigue could destroy his entire MK Movement if top leaders don’t stop engaging themselves in small chicken fights.
The top echelons of MK Movement, which campaigns for Muhoozi’s right to become President, are involved in grasshopper like fights and are determined to destroy each other for supremacy.
Frank Gashumba is said to be at war with Balaam Barugahara, David Kabanda and other MK giants. Many don’t like Balaam because they see him as a man who is there to use the MK Movement functions to make money because he is an events coordinator.
This is why Kabanda, Gashumba and others dislike Balaam because they think he is money-minded yet all top bosses are supposed to be volunteers in the MK Movement without using the struggle to make money.
Balaam is also hated by some other MK insiders who think he was either happy to see disciplinary committee chairman Micheal Mawanda jailed or simply didn’t do enough to shield him from prison over the cooperatives billions.
When Balaam and Lillian Aber were made ministers, the other MK giants were unhappy and went about feuding them. It’s further said that Balaam was always fearing and suspecting the MK disciplinary committee chairman Michael Mawanda because he saw him as a big man who can overshadow all the others.
Even MK himself would listen to Mawanda and respect his advice and words more than all the others in the movement. This made Balaam and others uneasy. When Gashumba criticised Gen MK for failing to stamp out instability and criminal gangs in Kampala especially those kicking people on the streets, Mawanda called for his punishment.
He was summoned to the disciplinary committee but Gashumba imploded asking why Mawanda can’t be punished first for the cooperatives scandal. A few days later, MP Mawanda got arrested.
Mawanda supporters were unhappy and have never forgiven Gashumba. In greater Masaka, the MK camp is on fire after new entrant Vincent Ssempijja becoming envious of fellow big man Haruna Kasolo who is the overall MK Movement boss for Buganda.
In fighting Kasolo, Ssempijja is working with Frank Gashumba, Rakai RDC Sarah Kiyimba, his daughter Justine Nameere and others. Ssempijja fears that Kasolo is going to remain the biggest agent for both Museveni and MK in greater Masaka.
And general MK is very concerned and has been trying to reconcile them in vain. Ssempijja has been working with M7 eating things for longer than Kasolo and he blames the same microfinance minister for his removal from cabinet where he was minister for defense.
Sarah Kiyimba wants to become the new MP for Nyendo-Mukungwe in Masaka city and wants to capitalise on Ssempijja who was LC5 chairman Masaka district for many years to fulfill her dream. This is why she is with Ssempijja in destroying Kasolo who her Brovad family thinks is supportive of Mathias Mpuuga whom she wants to uproot in 2026.
Namere is a daughter of Ssempijja and such intrigue explains how fake news started that Kasolo had stolen rice meant for MK’s function in Masaka. Frank Gashumba also hates Kasolo because the position MK gave him in PLU was something Gashumba wanted for himself.
Indeed during MK’s function in Masaka haters were put to shame when Kasolo had a big crowd in the playground which pleased MK who already knew that some haters were sabotaging the event in order to make Kasolo look bad.
This was the first MK assignment Kasolo handled and it went so well. This is why haters tried even to frustrate Kasolo’s speech but MK learnt about it and rebuked them to stop intrigue. He made it clear to them that the big picture they are all supposed to be working for will not be achieved if they don’t stop intrigue.
The stolen rice rumor started when Museveni was about to reshuffle his cabinet and Ssempijja’s supporters feared that Museveni wasn’t going to retain both of them.
They knew it had to either be Kasolo or Ssempijja and not both of them. Haters also tried to resurrect the other old story of 2bn from micro finance support center which is false, stale and untrue. The idea was to portray Kasolo, who supervises MSC, as corrupt so that Museveni drops him.
A journalist called Isaac Mufumba, an old man who works with weekend Monitor, was allegedly facilitated to come up with the 2bn story to make Kasolo look like he is a very scandalous minister.
Mufumba was put in touch with haters at micro finance support center who oiled the operation and the story was put out even when it wasn’t true at all. The target was to annoy the President and make him ashamed of his blue-eyed boy Haruna Kasolo and fire him.
The President’s intelligence investigated and found out that the story had been distorted in order to paint Kasolo in bad light. As MP Kyotera county, Kasolo had his Kasolo Foundation serve as a guarantor to several women groups and saccos which had borrowed money through the MSC office or branch of Kyotera.
Naturally, this would be good for his electoral politics. The women saccos groups were each lent between 10 & 30m with Kasolo’s Foundation serving as a guarantor which is common and acceptable practice.
Each borrower has to have a guarantor as MSC funds are being taken out. But the way Mufumba wrote his story it appeared as if minister Kasolo had single-handedly taken 2bn from the MSC which isn’t the case.
The MSC procedures were all complied with and the monies the Foundation-backed Kyotera saccos took out separately, totalling to 2bn, was assessed and taken through all eligibility requirements. The Kasolo Foundation, based in Kyotera, was merely a guarantor. The Kyotera women groups loans application were vetted, assessed and validated by the MSC as procedure requires.
Even when the MSC executive director Peter Mujuni refused to issue a statement rebutting it, the Mufumba story was so false that the new Monitor MD Susan Nsibirwa reached out and offered an apology on being signalled that Minister Haruna Kasolo intended to sue the publication over the same.
This is why in the latest offensive, the Haruna Kasolo pursuers had to use New Vision and not Daily Monitor anymore because Mufumba (aka gun for hire) can’t dare write any story anymore apart from praising and defending Kasolo’s haters on social media especially twitter where he is very active sometimes. The haters became even more angry when Museveni kept Kasolo in cabinet and dropped their man Ssempijja.
Because politics is a game of interests and intrigue, some of Haruna Kasolo haters have lately been working with opposition strongman Richard Sebamala who replaced VP Sekandi in Bukoto central constituency in Masaka. Sebamala is on the verge of losing his seat to Haruna Kasolo in 2026. Kasolo has widely been accepted by all opinion shapers in Bukoto central and DP man Sebamala is clearly living on borrowed time.
And Sebamala is a member on COSASE which he has been using to openly fight Kasolo which in itself amounts to abuse of office. When Isaac Mufumba did lie about the 2bn MSC gave out to Kyotera women saccos and groups, Sebamala jumped on the same to demand that MSC and Kasolo appear before Cosase to explain themselves and all this was meant to humiliate Kasolo and make him look ugly and subdue him on Bukoto central campaign trail.
And lately even the entire NUP machinery has picked interest in destroying Haruna Kasolo who appears on NBS Barometer every Tuesday night to give their Betty Nambooze a hell of time.
The NUP foot soldiers were unleashed on Kasolo even more when he appeared at Masaka’s Kitovu Sports Arena recently to grace Mathias Mpuuga’s thanksgiving event. Mpuuga is a hated official in NUP because he has given the principal Bobi Wine a lot of hard time.
This is why even Joel Senyonyi has been out to accuse Kasolo of the 2bn from MSC all basing on the fake story written by Isaac Mufumba (aka gun for hire) yet his bosses at Namuwongo have already apologised over the same.
The NUP party also has a fictitious twitter account The Kampala Journal which they use to post things which nobody at Kamwokya has guts to own up to.
That same anonymous twitter account has been very active in fighting Kasolo falsely accusing him of taking the 2bn largely because the principal is angry and hates him because he attended Mpuuga’s function.
A minister attending helped to raise the profile of Mpuuga’s function something which the showbiz-loving principal didn’t like at all. He had worked hard and even invested money to ensure that Mpuuga’s function fails but the opposite happened.
