National Unity Platform principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has been at parliament today to join his members of parliament to launch the opposition’s alternative budget priorities for the financial year 2024/25.
Speaking to journalists today, Bobi Wine revealed neither his party nor himself are under siege as claimed by embattled commissioner of parliament Mathias Mpuuga who is fighting to come to terms with a vote of no confidence dangling on his head from the party.
The NUP boss also revealed that he agitates for the release of political prisoners but doesn’t whatsoever in any way beg or want to negotiate with Museveni to have them released because they’re innocent and challenged government to subject the NUP political prisoners to a fair judicial system and hand them a judgement if they’re guilty.
Everything else went on well until Bobi Wine while speaking to journalists said that the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among is a criminal who should even be arrested for her involvement in corruption scandals at the house she presiders over at it’s head.
His words come at a time when Speaker Anita Among is on the receiving end over her exorbitant expenditures where at the instigation of the #UgandaParliamentExhibition, Among was exposed for orchestrating well coordinated expenditures worthy billions under the pretext of Corporate Social Responsibility.
When NUP wrote to Speaker Among indicating that they were recalling their nomination of Mathias Mpuuga as commissioner of parliament, she openly told off the party General Secretary Rubongoya in a letter that NUP’s wish can’t be granted under the law.
