Uganda just like her neighbors is experience unceasingly serious rains which some times lead to loss of property, roads destroyed, mudslides in the mountains and even the country’s capital Kampala is not spared by the floods.
Many times the floods in Kampala have been attributed to the poor planning orchestrated by the City authorities [engineers] who allow people to build in swamps and water ways. The other reason for Kampala floods is the garbage that is thrown in trenches that carry water.
In Kampala places like Banda, Nakawa, Kitintale, Bwaise among others experience floods whenever it rains. Many potholed Kampala roads become inaccessible since the potholes are filled with water and motorists and pedestrians can’t tell their depth when filled with water.
Natural disasters often strike without warning, leaving us powerless to prevent them. While we can mitigate the impact of certain climate-related calamities, others remain beyond our ability to manage.

However, much as the Kagoma North Legislator Alex Brandon Kintu while appearing on NTV Morning today appreciates the longstanding planning inadequacies, he heaps much blame on the opposition leaders that the Kampala people keep voting every general election.
According to Brandon who is also the spokesperson of the NRM caucus says if Kampala people were voting only NRM leaders, the floods wouldn’t be rampant in Kampala because NRM leaders speak directly to Museveni who is the overall problem solver in Uganda unlike opposition who are ever opposing his government.
Kampala City has had two Executive Directors; Jenifer Musisi and the current Dorothy Kisaka but the political wing has under the leadership of Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago for the last 10 years even when he was impeached in 2013. He was first elected to the position in 2011.
The problem of flooding in Kampala is rooted in longstanding planning inadequacies. Entrusting the city to the opposition for years has only compounded the issue. – Brandon Kintu, Kagoma North County, MP
