The Parish Development Model (PDM) Expo 2024 has today in an event that took place at Shine On hotel been flagged off in Mbale city ahead of the 3 day event happening next month.
The event which is culminating from the 2 years anniversary of the Parish Development Model ever since it was launched by President Museveni in Kibuku district in 2022 is set to attract PDM beneficiaries, SACCO entrepreneurs, Financial Institutions, government MDAs – among other entities involved in the agriculture value chain will take place on 8th to 10th May 2024 at the Mbale Cricket grounds in Mbale City.
The Expo and the activities leading to the event have been launched and flagged off by the Mbale City RCC John Rex Achila who underscored the need to prioritize government programs to fight hunger and poverty as the key drivers to economic transformation.
Under the theme TRANSFORMATION FROM SUBSISTENCE TO THE MONEY ECONOMY, the PDM Expo is organized by Bubu Distributors Uganda Ltd, the PDM Secretariat and the Ministry of Local government along side several partners and sponsors.
The flagged off events led to drives in areas and streets of Mbale city in Industrial Division, Northern and Southern Division while urging the locals to make it a point to attend this event which is the first of it’s kind to celebrate the success stories of the Parish Development Model and bringing several partners and sponsors on board.
The event which is targeting 15 districts in Bukedi and Elgon regions will feature several speakers in a SACCO business Conference, provide platform for markets of agricultural produces and a health camp where the attendees will have access to free medical services.
Post Bank, Stanbic Bank, DTB Bank, Pride Microfinance, DFCU Bank, Housing Finance Bank, Steel & Tube are some of the sponsors involved in this three day event.
Speaking at the launch, Paul Nyakaana Businge the Managing Director of Bubu Distributors thanked the sponsors, partners and State actors for walking the journey with them in the preparation and urged other corporates and the business sector to come on board to walk the same journey to the event happening in few weeks time.
