I’M NOT HIDING: Tourism Ministry PS Speaks Out On Snubbing Committee Summons

After learning that the Muwanga Kivumbi-led Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had unleashed arrest orders against her for snubbing the Committee summons to answer queries to funds mismanagement, PS ministry of tourism Doreen Katusiime had revealed that she’s actually not hiding but on leave.

According to Katusiime who says she had handed over to the under secretary while going on leave a week ago says she hadn’t received any invitation to face the Committee of Parliament to answer some queries related to mismanagement of funds, but never the less, she’ll avail herself on Tuesday next week to give answers to the unanswered questions on the queries raised by the Auditor General in the report for the financial year 2022-2023.

“I have taken not of social media reports about an alleged “arrest warrant” that was issued by the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) over my failure to appear to respond to issues raised in the Auditor General’s report for the Financial year ended June 2023. 

I took official leave on 7th March 2024 and handed over to the Undersecretary. So, he had led the Ministry team in his capacity as Acting Accounting Office. However, the Committee Chairperson asked that I Appear in person ad I take personal responsibility for this role. 

I would also like to make it clear that I have never been called to appear before PAC and i failed or refused to appear. [Gratefully], the committee has rescheduled the meeting to Tuesday 19th March“-Katusiime revealed
