On Saturday, it’s expected several celebrities from all cities of Uganda, Kampala inclusive, will be descending on Dokolo district’s Okwaro Gwen Sub County to participate in the burial of big-name RnB musician/celebrity Bee Pee whose real names are Bernard Paul Munu.
He died a few days ago at Lira Regional Referral Hospital where he was rushed after getting involved in an accident in Lira City as he rode on his motorcycle. He was pronounced dead moments after being checked into the Hospital. Because he was a household name, and a very popular musician at that, many political leaders have stood with the family registering their solidarity.
Lira City Woman MP 2026 aspirant Betty Among is among those and took advantage of the Chameleon at Front Page Lounge in Lira City and delivered her condolence of Shs500,000. Aceng, who she is seeking to oust come 2026, has equally stepped forward and done much more by offering Shs1m on top of the other forms of support she has extended to the bereaved family.
Known by his stage name ‘Bee Pee’, the singer crashed his skull at 9pm as he tried to dodge a reckless cyclist and instead his bike lost control and he fell which touched off endless bleeding. He was pronounced dead at around 00:05 am at Lira Regional Referral Hospital where he was rushed for medical treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
His burial is scheduled for Saturday January 3rd 2024 in his native Dokolo district. But before ethe burial, his body will be retrieved from Lira Hospital mortuary and be taken to Lira Cathedral Church for a requiem mass. Thereafter, it will be taken to his home in Ireda for a vigil before leaving for Dokolo for his final send-off.
In line with her passion for humanity, Minister Aceng Ocero on Tuesday delivered her condolence to the Lira-based music industry describing Bee Pee’s death as a tragic demise and a big loss to the society.
The Aceng message wad delivered by her political advisor Mrs Aceng Emma Okite who observed that the demise of her Principal’s diehard supporter Bee Pee had been brought to their attention during the burial process of Hon Atat Cecilia Ogwal (former Woman MP of Dokolo district).
“Imat [Aceng] was so engrossed with the burial and had to conclude it as a date was yet to be set for her son Bee Pee,” Okite informed the artistes gathered for at Bee Pee’s burial planning meeting at Pacific Grand Hotel in Lira City. “The demise of Bee Pee greatly pained her [Aceng] as he was her son and a strong supporter.” Indeed, the grief-stricken Minister will be travelling to Dokolo to join what is expected to be a large congregation of mourners to send off Bee Pee.
Through her assistant, Aceng further applauded all those who have contributed in whatever way because it has had to be a collective effort towards ensuring that Be Pee, who was a big-name celebrity not only in Lira but much of Northern Uganda, gets a befitting send off.
Aceng’s emissary encouraged all stakeholders to reach out to many more people and politicians to render their support since, through his humility, Bee Pee touched lives of many people in the Lango community. Aceng, who is populary known as Ceng Atedero, sent her humble contribution of Shs1m and in addition committed to attend the Saturday burial in Dokolo in person.
The Aceng message and contribution was received by Easy Bash Machar, a renowned musician and a politician, who received the thanked the Minister and team for the solidarity they exhibited towards securing a befitting send off of the fallen hit-maker Bee Pee.
On the other hand, the organizing chairman for the burial of the popstar, Professor Maros Atine observed that the arrangements are underway to ensure that everything goes well on Saturday. He thanked the deceased’s fellow musicians and celebrities from across the country for standing with the family as Bee Pee nears his send off day.
