Ugandans are known to be hospitable people, this and others are the reasons that inspired Winston Churchill who coined the nickname “The Pearl Of Africa” for Uganda in 1908. The nickname was even published in his book My African Journey, which was based on a safari he took in 1907. Churchill used the nickname to describe the country’s beauty, variety and natural wealth.
It’s upon such a background that Information Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi has asked Ugandans residing along the routes where visitors shall pass that much as they may be going through the January difficulties, they should not show visitors gloomy faces, they should at least smile for the visiting delegates such that they go knowing Ugandans are happy.
“We request all Ugandans to work together, we welcome our visitors, put aside what is bothering us aside and put on a smile and welcome the visitors because they will go back when they are impressed. These are visitors for us as Ugandans “-said Baryomunsi.
