In a developing story, security operatives have reportedly stormed the office of the National Unity Platform (NUP) located in Makerere Kavule in the late evening hours of Saturday 13th January 2024.
According to NUP, the men in uniform were traveling in six military vehicles and wanted to make their way into the party offices forcefully and found all gates closed and started banging them after a power black out in the area.

It was after neighbors gathered to see what was happening that these men in uniform decided to drive away. It’s not clear what they came to do or search for at the NUP offices in the night.

UPDATE:
This evening at about 7:30pm, armed men traveling on approximately six police/ military trucks surrounded the offices of the National Unity Platform at Kavule. This followed a power blackout around the whole area. They attempted to enter the offices through the main gate but found it locked.
After banging it and attempting to arrest our security personnel unsuccessfully, they moved to another gate, and found it locked as well. Our neighbors started gathering and trying to find out what was happening. After several minutes, they left. We are grateful to our security team that worked very quickly to close all gates as soon as they sighted these intruders. We continue to monitor the situation, and appreciate all citizens for their vigilance and show of concern.
By the time of filing this story, police had not commented on the issue, this is a developing story.
