ABIM: On Monday while giving his closing remarks at the celebrations to mark the 61years of Uganda’s independence, President Museveni again as usual said he would crash corrupt officials describing them as parasites who are failing development in the country.
Indeed the corruption parasites are very comfortable in Abim district to the extent that they have failed to repair the health centre II which the wind plucked the roof off three years down the road.
Kiru health centre II located in Kiru town council in Abim district is in bad situation but the district officials especially the health department have kept silent of repairing the health unit despite the ministry of health sending resources to the health centre.
This publication has learnt that the health centre serves a population of 12,000 people. Joseph Owilli one of the residents says nurses have no choice but to attend expectant mothers under the sunshine .
“The facility has remained the way it’s now three years, no body bothers to repair it but we are told millions of shillings are being sent to run this facility but no single day have they thought to repair the facility”-he said
Jesca Abonyo another resident says what only needs its putting back new five ironsheets that the wind blew up three year back but now its has remain deroofed all along.
“We go to the same place even if the roof is open because we have no option,”he said.
A source at the district health office who spoke on condition of anonymity fearing to be reprimanded told this publication that corruption in Abim district has reached to the level where no one can manage to fight it.
Several attempts to get a comment from the district health officer Abim were futile as his mobile phone was off.
