SOROTI: As the Soroti city residents are still shocked on how the city officers are illegally sublease and double selling of people’s plots in Soroti, the anti corruption monitors have discovered again another saga where the city spent Shs2.5billion just todo low cost sealing of the 800 metre road instead of one and half kilometer.
According to the paper work, the road called Ajena road in Soroti city covers one and half kilometers but the city only worked on a section of the road at Shs 2.5billion.
This publication saw the paper work which indicated that the money was spent on one and half kilometer road yet the actual sense the work was only done at 800 meters.
James Omagor one of the anti corruption monitors told this publication that where areas the road was supposed to have covered drainage system and the pedestrian walk way which is not there.
“Soroti city is rotten, and we appeal the office of the president to come for our rescue if they love Soroti city,”he said.
Glades Aketch another resident said many people in Soroti have not tested the value of Soroti being a city at all adding that the officers employed in the city are only after their stomachs.
Corruption in Soroti city, someone can sit down and watch it moving around the streets looking for breakfast, “She said. According to Ms Aketch anyone who tries to raise alarm about this road is being silence with the fat envelop including some media reporters.
But Mr.Robert Kairu the city engineer said they have only spent Shs900m on the road adding that the work was still in progress.
“The truths is that we have only spent Shs900m todo that work which is beyond even low cost sealing and work is not yet complete-“he said.
